HSBC Credit Card Welcome Offer - Card Upgrade Promotion Terms and Conditions

When can you enjoy the offer

  1. The promotional period for the offer is from 1 August to 29 September 2019.

What is the offer

  1. During the promotional period, you can upgrade your Eligible Credit Card to an Upgraded Credit Card through HSBC Phone Banking. If we approve your application, you can receive a welcome gift of $100 RewardCash when you use the Upgraded Credit Card to make Eligible Transactions of HK$1,200 or above within the first 60 calendar days from the issuance of the Upgraded Credit Card.
  2. This promotion is only applicable to designated customers.
  3. You can only receive one welcome gift even if you apply for more than one Upgraded Credit Card during the promotional period and use more than one Upgraded Credit Card to fulfil the requirements under Clause 2. If you are entitled to other promotional offer(s) under concurrent promotion(s) run by us, you may only receive promotional offer(s) under one of the promotions at our discretion.
  4. We will determine whether you are eligible for the offer based on the records we hold on the Eligible Transactions. If you are qualified for the offer, the applicable RewardCash will be automatically credited to the Upgraded Credit Card primary card account within 2 months upon fulfilment of the requirements under Clause 2.
  5. If any transactions where the RewardCash was awarded is subsequently reversed or your Upgraded Credit Card is cancelled within 13 months from its issuance, we may deduct the RewardCash from the Upgraded Credit Card account without notice to you.

How can you enjoy the offer

  1. You can enjoy the offer if you:
    1. hold an Upgraded Credit Card and your credit card account is valid and in good standing during the promotional period and the offer fulfilment period; and
    2. use an Upgraded Credit Card to fulfil the requirements under Clause 2.
  2. You cannot enjoy the offer if you are:
    1. an additional card applicant; or
    2. an employee of HSBC.

Annual fee waiver

  1. You can enjoy a first two-year credit card annual fee waiver for your Upgraded Credit Card and additional card(s) applied under the same application form. The first two-year annual fee waiver is not applicable to newly applied additional card(s).

Read before you enjoy the offer

  1. You cannot change the welcome gift selected in the credit card application form.
  2. You have to keep all original sales slips or official payment records of the Eligible Transactions. In case of dispute, we may at any time ask you to submit these slips, records, and/or further evidence for inspection and we may keep them.
  3. The terms and conditions of the Upgraded Credit Card and RewardCash will apply.
  4. Your application is subject to our approval and we are not obligated to provide reasons for declining your application.
  5. We can change or cancel the offer or amend the terms and conditions. Please check our website for the latest details, availability and terms and conditions of the offer.
  6. If we believe that you have acted in a fraudulent or abusive way, you will not be able to enjoy the offer and we can deduct the RewardCash or debit your credit card to take back any offer you have enjoyed, or cancel your credit card.
  7. In case of disputes arising out of your Upgraded Credit Card application and this promotion, our decision shall be final and conclusive.
  8. We write the terms and conditions of the offer under Hong Kong laws. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English version and the Chinese version of the promotional materials and these terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.

What these terms mean

  1. “Eligible Credit Card” means the selected Hong Kong Dollar personal primary credit card issued by The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (and its successors and assigns) for upgrade under this promotion.
  2. “Upgraded Credit Card” means the designated HSBC Credit Card (HSBC Visa Signature Card, HSBC Visa Platinum Card or HSBC Visa Gold Card) for upgrade by the selected credit cardholders under this promotion.
  3. “Eligible Transactions” means cumulative net spending of any transaction conducted with an Upgraded Credit Card (including primary card and/or additional card(s)) within the first 60 calendar days from its issuance and posted during the offer fulfilment period. These are not Eligible Transactions:
    • Finance and bank charges: annual fees, finance charges, late charges;
    • Transactions without the need to present physical credit card (other than online transactions): mail, fax and telephone orders;
    • Other transactions:
      • bill payments settled via HSBC Mobile Banking and/or Internet Banking;
      • purchase and/or reload of stored value cards or e-wallets (other than Octopus automatic add-value transactions);
      • redemption transactions under “RewardCash e-shop” and other programmes;
      • cash advance or withdrawal under the Cash Instalment Plan or Cash Credit Plan;
      • monthly instalment(s) of Cash Instalment Plan, Cash Credit Plan, Spending Instalment Plan or other instalment plans;
      • transactions at non-financial institutions (including purchase of foreign currency, money orders and travellers cheques);
      • transactions at financial institutions (including purchase of merchandise and services from banks);
      • wire transfers;
      • betting and gambling transactions;
      • tax payments;
      • autopay and recurring transactions;
      • all unposted/cancelled/refunded transactions.
